Hello families!

We are so excited and grateful that you have allowed us to join you on your your journey of discipling the next generation of joyful jesus followers. It is our conviction that you are the main source of your child’s discipleship. Below you will find a helpful tool that you can use to carry the truths that your child learned this week in Roots THROUGHOUT the week.

This week’s big theme is: God changed Jacob.

Key Passage: Genesis 25-33

Christ Connection: God gave Jacob a new name. That name is Israel. We follow Jesus God calls us his children and gives us new identities.

Weekly challenge: As a family name all the ways that you see God changing you and growing you to be more like Jesus. Talk about this as a family and invite others in your family to name the ways in which they see God changing you.

Table Talk: Around the table, talk about these questions:

  • What does it mean to be changed?

  • Do you feel like you need to change?

  • How does the gospel say we are changed?

Weekly Family Prayer: God we thank you that the gospel is your power to change. Sometimes we may not think we need to be changed, but the way we feel is a bad compass for trying to follow you. Thank you that the in the gospel, Jesus has accomplished all we need to change and be confirmed into your image. Help us to live in such a way that signals to our neighbors, family, class mates, and coworkers, that Jesus is real and he is at work in our lives.
